연출 의도
이란에서 '여성, 삶, 자유' 운동이 한창이던 시기, 아홉 살 소년 키안 피르팔락이 부모의 차 안에 있다가 정부 보안군의 총에 목숨을 잃었다. 키안의 억울한 죽음에 깊이 동요한 감독은 아이들을 향한 폭력을 다루는 영화를 구상하게 됐다. 서로 다른 형태의 폭력을 다양한 시점에서 보여주기 위해 옴니버스 형식을 택했으며, 아이가 폭력적으로 행동하더라도 그렇게 만든 배경을 먼저 이해해야 한다는 믿음을 담았다. 널리 알려진 한 홈비디오 영상에서 키안은 "무지개의 신의 이름으로"라는 말로 이야기를 시작했다. 그를 기리며 이 영화에 '레인보우스 테일'이라는 제목을 붙였고, 각 에피소드를 무지개의 색으로 표현했다.

Weaves together the stories of seven children who each experience different forms of violence, exploring how unresolved childhood trauma can shape the wounds of adulthood.
Director's Statement
During the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' movement in Iran, nine-year-old Kian Pirfalak was shot and killed by government security forces while sitting in his parents' car. Deeply moved by Kian's senseless death, the director set out to make a film about violence against children. An omnibus format was chosen to show different forms of violence from multiple perspectives, carrying the belief that even when a child acts out violently, we must first understand what led them there. In a widely shared home video, Kian began his words with, 'In the name of the God of the Rainbow.' In his memory, the film was named Rainbow's Tale, with each episode represented by a different color of the rainbow.
